UT Austin Demo Day 2013
25 Apr 2012Burpee
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP USING THE WORD ADDITIONALLY. Grocery delivery.
bluSense
Where were you all semester? I’ve never heard this pitch before. So the run down on bluSense, is that it’s an implementation of the oft-predicted “friend finder” gadget applied to conferences for trying to create social networking. The proposed business model is to provide alerts when you are physically close to other individuals (presumably using bluSense as well) with the hope of sparking and/or promoting business oriented social networking. “throwing a conference” wtf?
Future Business Network
- TONE. Waay informal. Also entrance, wtf is with coming on stage to “eye of the tiger”?
- WTF is with your graphics?
- lol @ $0.0035 per visitors
- slide duration, I get that you have to be fast but the oil game slides are waaaay to fast. images just flashing past pointlessly.
- well done, it didn’t feel like you memorized the presentation.
- random points like “teamwork” sprinked throughout. Loose em. I just want to see the revenue stats and maybe the in-game and website pics.
Clay.io
- html5 based game platform
- presentation confidence. Stuttering, presentation needed more practice. Also information confidence, there’s no excuse for stumbling over Steam being the flagship pc game store.
You would have done better (IMHO) to open with a more technical overview which focuses on the services which you provide to game developers in selling your platform rather than trying to sell the app store concept overall which is what you seem to be saying.
- how do you provide wider reach than stock HTML5? that’s retarded, your games only run where there are HTML5 compatible browsers unless you have your own browser in the works (good luck)
- so are you a game platform, a game portal or both of them?
- woah nontechnical team, one coder and two business ppl.
Servuss
- SHITTY NAME
- worst possible opening slide
- doesn’t say anything about you guys besides your name
- unreadable typography
- nice that you didn’t memorize your presentation, but you needed two
or three more rounds of practicing.
- confidence. it is lacking
- why do you have a calendar slide up while talking about learning styles and variable content distribution.
- dude. fucking fix your slides. you have a really cool model but I don’t know that from this presentation.
- Leander
- br0. you have Leander on board for your beta.
- THIS IS A BIG FUCKING DEAL
- YOU DON’T MAKE A BIG DEAL OF THIS
- FIX IT.
Crowd Rx
yeah I was tired of bitching about the others so I didn’t pay attention to you. stroke prevention & urgent care analytic with a view to improving & broadening use of life saving yet high risk medications.
Team Pi
- why the bender slides?
- bad intro music.. worse than the others (may edit this)
- you start talking about “our platform” in the vague without first qualifying exactly what your product is or does.
- YOU GIVE US A DEMO WITHOUT EXPLAINING YOUR BUSINESS MODEL. FIX IT.
- FOUR MINUTES INTO A SIX MINUTE PRESENTATION AND YOU STILL HAVEN’T EXPLICITLY TOLD US WHAT YOU DO!!!11!
- your typography and layout is bad, but survuss’s was worse.
- WHY DID YOU NOT HAVE A UI PICTURE? YOU HAVE A WEB PROTOTYPE THAT LOOKS GOOD. SHOW US.
- WORST EXIT YET. “if anyone just wants to hang out, come talk to us”
- also did not talk about the rest of your… lost my train of thought
Suite (pronounced suit) of Clubs
organization service for getting clubs shit together for organizing members, finances and activities as well as trying to help synchronize groups for doing “mixer” events and soforth.
“suit of clubs’s” /me cringes
- pace. you’re going too fast.
- good transition to businesses from student orgs, almost didn’t catch it.
- did I mention pace?
- you didn’t clarify what your revenue source is. you should have made it explicit that you expect to make money off of these cooperate connections rather than on licensing fees from the orgs themselves.
overlotus
Restaurant analytic service.
- “all about filling seats” +1
- good job of explaining the failures of the discount services. – low or negative margins – zero impact on retention
- Open Table – high entry cost – failure to assist in recruiting
so what do they do UI screenshot +2 GREAT demo of what the “local event” page.
GOOD EXIT. goin’ out with a tag line. easy best presentation all night.
